Hyderabad: The local body elections will be held in next three to four months after conducting the BC census in Telangana, announced Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.

Addressing the Congress activists at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, where Mahesh Kumar Goud assumed charge as the president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC), the Chief Minister said the Congress leaders have more responsibility to win the elections for workers and they are ready to work harder for the victory of party’s candidates.

He congratulated Mahesh Goud on assuming the role of TPCC president, calling it a moment of pride for all.

Reflecting on the journey of the Congress in Telangana, Revanth Reddy recalled how Sonia Gandhi fulfilled her promise of statehood for Telangana, despite various challenges.

"On June 27, 2021, I was appointed TPCC President and on July 7, 2021, I took charge, striving to coordinate everyone and move forward," he remarked.

Revanth Reddy credited the Congress with revitalising the State, particularly citing the historic rally at Indravelli as a turning point that brought the Congress back to power.

Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress has implemented key promises, including waiving ₹2 lakh in farmer loans and depositing ₹18,000 crores into the accounts of 23 lakh farmers, declaring it a “festival of agriculture.”

The Chief Minister stressed Congress's commitment to its people, referencing the implementation of Sonia Gandhi's six guarantees, two of which were fulfilled within 48 hours of assuming power.

He highlighted the government's achievements, including free bus travel for women in RTC buses and the expansion of Rajiv Arogyashree to provide ₹10 lakh in health coverage for the poor. He also announced free electricity for households up to 200 units and promised ₹500 gas cylinders for women.

"We kept our promise of loan waivers for farmers, bringing smiles to their faces," he added.

The Chief Minister further took a jibe at Harish Rao, who had challenged him to resign if the loan waivers were not completed by Independence Day. He questioned, "Where is that person hiding now?"

Revanth Reddy also promised a ₹500 bonus for fine rice in the upcoming agriculture season, while celebrating his government's efforts to create 30,000 jobs within three months of taking power.

He highlighted the establishment of the Young India Skill University to train the youth and announced plans for a Sports University in Telangana with an aim to produce Olympic medalists by 2028.

Revanth Reddy further emphasised the need for continued hard work, reminding the gathering that the recent elections were just the semi-finals.

"The finals are in 2029 and we will win when Rahul Gandhi becomes the Prime Minister and the Congress flag flies high at the Red Fort," he declared.

The Chief Minister urged the Congress activists to remain vigilant and dedicated until the final victory.
